Lit

Lit is definitely one of those bands that had a couple of memorable
hits a few years ago (“My Own Worst Enemy” and “Miserable”–the
one that had Pamela Anderson in the video) but that has since then seemingly
dropped off the radar. But this summer, Lit has returned and the guys
have brought with them a new self-titled album, though it probably won’t
do much to help them get back in the game as major players. Lit kicks
off with “Too Fast for a U-Turn,” a song that sounds like
The Vines’ “Get Free,” an attempt at a bigger rock
sound that Lit isn’t known for. The Lit everyone grew to love
was much more sunny California pop-rock than rock star anthems. That
being said, the real Lit return on track two with the poppy “Looks
Like They Were Right” and tends to stay with us for the rest of
the album. Memorable songs include “Throwaway,” the punky
“Allright” and the well-selected Cure cover “Pictures
of You.” On the whole, Lit is a good album, yet there’s
nothing too special about it that will set it apart from other summer
releases in order for it to make a big impact. But Lit fans will definitely
eat it up.
