March
26, 2006:
It's been a week since I returned from SXSW and I think I have finally
recovered....maybe. Anywho, while I was in Austin, I had the pleasure
of speaking with Stephen from Anberlin. He's definitely one of the most
genuine, polite and all-around nice guys I've been able to sit down
and talk with. You can read our interview here.
March
12, 2006:
As an added bonus, I've got show reviews of NoFX

In honor of the impending new year, I've compiled my list of the
best albums of 2005 and the
top 10 music-related moments that changed my life this past year.
And just for the hell of it, I've thrown in a little editorial
on how a band's success can be quite the double-edged sword. I hope
everyone has a safe and happy New Year!!!!
December

For now, I've got interviews with pro skater Andy
MacDonald and Ryan
Dunn of Jackass/Viva La Bam fame. In addition, I finally got around
to posting my photos
of Circa Survive.

So I finally got to meet/see the boys in Hot Vegas a couple of days

I highly recommend taking a few minutes to check them out.
June
11, 2005:
Just posted my interview
with Roxy Epoxy of The Epoxies, who just released Stop the Future

Tonight I've got photos, photos and more photos. I've added new photos
of New
Found Glory, Atreyu
(courtesy of TJ) and The
Letters Organize:
Brent
is a monkey. And knowing his band's luck, he's gonna fall and break
something. But we love him anyway. =)
February
19, 2005:
Because I know that some of my friends will read this, I feel obligated
to announce that although I refuse to torture myself by listening to
the Say Anything CD, I saw them play last night and they were actually
good. I think the energy of the show actually covered up his ridiculous
lyrics. That being said, I added new interviews with Comeback
Kid, Armor
for Sleep and Social
Distortion. Comeback Kid and Armor for Sleep have new records coming
out on Tuesday, both of which you definitely need to pick up. And finally,
my friend TJ has contributed a review of Wilco
in Orlando that everyone needs to check out.
January
30, 2005:
This week I've got a review of the Eighteen
Visions show in Atlanta a few days ago and a review of the new (well,
sort of) Something
Corporate DVD. It's an AMAZING DVD, so if you're a fan of the band,
it's definitely worth the investment.
January
23, 2005:
Just added two new interviews, one with Andrew
of Something Corporate and the other with Frankie
of My Chemical Romance. Both guys were incredibly nice and I'm so
glad I got a chance to chat with them. In addition, there's a review
of the new Unwritten Law record Here's
to the Mourning. And finally, I'm starting a little something
new with DVD reviews. My first two DVD reviews EVER are of the Punk
Rock Holocaust and The
Matches' Show Must Go Off DVD.
December

Now for part two of my holiday update, I've got a review of the new
Stroke
9 CD and a review of the Butch
Walker/American Hi-Fi shows in Orlando and Athens.
December
25, 2004:
Merry Christmas! As my present to you, I've posted new interviews with
American
Hi-Fi, Riddlin
Kids and No
Warning. And I have added some new shots of The
Matches to their photo gallery.
November
16, 2004:
Well, I've got good news and bad news......the good news is that I have
posted a brand spankin' new review
of the Yellowcard, Starting Line, Matches and Hey Mike! show I went
to in Atlanta last Saturday. And I added photos from the show to the
galleries of Yellowcard,
The Matches
and The
Starting Line. But now for the bad news, I won't be updating the
site until December 14th due to finals. And yes, I really do have three
and a half weeks of finals....that's what law school will do to you.
So, on that note, enjoy the holidays and I'll be back in December with
some Butch Walker show reviews and hopefully photos.
November
6, 2004:
Two new reviews today...Say
Anything (yeah, I know I'm kinda late) and Riddlin'
Kids.
October

41, Further
Seems Forever, Don't
Look Down and Dirty
Mittens (an Athens band).
October

Just posted my review
from the Green Day show in Atlanta. How do I love New Found Glory....let
me count the ways.
October
23, 2004:
You can read an interview with Kenny from The Starting Line here.
That is all.
October
17, 2004:
First of all, I want to say congrats to my boys in The Letters Organize
who recently announced their signing to Nitro Records. You should head
over to the Nitro site and check out a
little video they put together from one of Letters' shows. Now on
to the update...I have three new CD reviews:
Hot Water Music, Ryan
Cabrera and Rise
Against. Enjoy!
October
4, 2004:
Check me out...two updates in two days. I just added some more photos
of Stories Below to their gallery and brand new photos
of Atlanta singer/songwriter Tim Brantley and his awesome band. The
photos are from last Saturday's show at the 40 Watt in Athens.
October
3, 2004:
Wow, another update within a week...I impress even myself. Anyways,
go here for
some new pictures of Atreyu in Atlanta and here
for some shots of The Killers. Oh, and I finally broke down and started
a MySpace account....now I'm cool....except I have no friends. So, please
check out my MySpace page here
and be my friend. =)
September
26, 2004:
Quick apology for the laziness....now check out my interview
with Tim from Underoath, where he tells me about getting braces;
my interview
with Dave from The Killers, where I promptly put my foot in my mouth
but quickly recovered by divulging my birthplace; and finally my interview
with Mike from Hoods, where he talks candidly about the band's relationship
with its label.
August
22, 2004:
Everyone needs to check out my new interview
with Butch Walker....he is, in fact, the man. I also have a review
from the Atlanta Projekt Revolution Tour, as well as photos of Linkin
Park, Korn,
The Used and
Snoop Dogg
from that show.
August
15, 2004:
Before I get into all of the new stuff, I want to tell everyone about
this amazing new band from Gainesville, Florida, called Together At
Last. If you want a good dose of killer pop-rock, check out the band's
PureVolume
page and give it a listen. There are now photos of both Midtown
and Eighteen
Visions to go along with the review I posted last time. And, as
promised, I've got tons of Warped Tour content up. You can read my reviews
of the Atlanta
and Jacksonville
shows, as well as my interviews with Paul
from Letter Kills and Matt
from The Matches. And if that weren't enough, I've added Warped
Tour photos of Sugarcult,
The
Letters Organize, From
Autumn to Ashes, New
Found Glory, Yellowcard,
NoFX, The
Pink Spiders, The
Matches, Rufio,
Cartel, Letter
Kills, Taking
Back Sunday, Coheed
& Cambria, Allister,
Billy Talent,
Matchbook
Romance and Story
of the Year (great action shots).....wow, was that a mouthful. Coming
soon will be an interview with my hero, Butch Walker, and some photos
from the Projekt Revolution Tour.
July
29, 2004:
So, the super-special interview is with none other than Hilary Duff
(yes, feel free to lose all respect for me now). But, if you're interested,
you can read the interview here.
And I posted my show
review (photos coming at the next update) of Midtown and Eighteen
Visions from last week in Atlanta. At the next update, expect tons of
photos and couple of interviews from the Warped Tours in ATL and Jville.
July
24, 2004:
Today we've got reviews of the new Midtown
record, as well as the Spiderman
soundtrack and the latest Vagrant
comp. I've also posted the survey
results from the Midtown show in May. Next Thursday, I will be adding
two new CD reviews and a super-special interview. You're gonna love
it!
July
18, 2004:
Just posted my interviews with the Steves from New
Found Glory and Thursday.
More CD reviews to come next weekend.
July
11, 2004:
Sorry I took a month between updates this time. I'll try not to let
it happen again. To make up for it, I have posted a bunch of interviews.
I did an interview with Vinnie from
Less Than Jake where we talked about Pez and Projekt Revolution.
And Carlo has added interviews with The
Donots, Piebald,
Pipedown,
Fear Before
the March of Flames, and The
Beautiful Mistake. I've also posted a quick album
review for an Atlanta band called Sharks and Minnows. Next weekend,
I will have tons of new CD reviews and interviews with New Found Glory
and Thursday, so be sure to check back.
June
6, 2004:
I have added four new bands to the Photos section: Atreyu,
Armor for
Sleep, Midtown
(Gabe likes to sing with his eyes closed) and The
Working Title. I have also posted a review
from the Midtown/Armor for Sleep/Working Title show in Atlanta last
weekend. And last, but certainly not least, I've got a great interview
with the ultra-stylish James Hart, frontman for Eighteen Visions. He
talks fashion, Epic Records and the new album "Obsession"
(which is amazing).
May
31, 2004:
Happy Memorial Day! Hope everyone is enjoying the day off. I have a
big update coming next weekend, but until then, check out this interview
that I did with Brandon Saller (super nice guy) of Atreyu.
May
23, 2004:
So today I have four CD reviews for you. Reviews of the new albums from
New Found
Glory, The
Matches, Lit
and the Rock
Against Bush comp can all be found by clicking on the pretty pink
names. And next week I will hopefully have some more CD reviews, but
I will definitely have an interview with Brandon of Atreyu and some
photos from the Atreyu show in A-Town.
May
16, 2004:
Yeah, yeah, I know I suck. It's been over a month since my last update.
That's what happens when you've got finals, but I'll try not to let
it happen again. So, today I've got a great interview
with Rob Hitt, drummer for Midtown. He was such a nice guy and talked
all about their new album, new video and working with Butch Walker.
I also have posted an article
I wrote about Andrew WK for the newspaper in Jacksonville. I would have
transcribed the whole interview, but I think it would have taken me
about a year to do it....the man is quite verbose. And finally, I've
added a review
of the Something Corporate show in Athens, GA. Enjoy! Oh, and everyone
go out and by the new New Found Glory on Tuesday...it's killer!
April
12, 2004:
I just added the survey results to the Yellowcard show review. You can
check those out here.
And Sugarcult's new album comes out on Tuesday, so go out and buy it!
And pick up the new Autopilot Off while you're at it.
April
11, 2004:
First of all, how cool is that New Found Glory countdown banner? Personally,
I can barely contain my excitement for Catalyst, so I'm enjoying
the countdown. But anyways...the best way to end the weekend and start
a brand new week is with an update. So, I've got an interview
with Seth Watts, the super-nice bass player for Over It. I added a review
of the Yellowcard / Something Corporate show in Atlanta this past Thursday
and photos from that show were added to the Yellowcard
photo page. (Hint: The newest photos start with the one of the set
list.)
April 6, 2004:
I just posted my review of the Thrice
show. Thursday I am going to see Yellowcard and Something Corporate
(I can hardly contain my excitement), so expect a review and some pics
this weekend.
March
28, 2004:
Yes, it's been a while. But that's what happens when you have Spring
Break and then a pair of 30-page papers to write. Over my break, I got
to see my boys in Exhaustra play for the first time down in Orlando.
You can check out my photos from the show here.
And keep an eye out for a review of the Thrice show in ATL over the
next few days.
March
4, 2004:
Today, I've got a couple of show reviews for you. One is from the Maroon
5 show 2 days ago in Athens and the other is from the MxPx
Valentine's Day show. Both reviews have links to the surveys done
at the shows. And I also had the pleasure of chatting with the lovable
Pete from Fallout Boy again last week. You can check out that interview
here.
He's such a sweetie.
February
26, 2004:
Snow in GA??? Weird but true. But I'm not complaining. It gave me time
to post a handful of Carlo's interviews. I didn't do a thorough job
of editing, so please ignore the errors. Here they are: Since
by Man, Shai
Hulud, Christiansen,
Propagandhi,
Noise
Ratchet, Maxeen,
Long
Since Forgotten, Avenged
Sevenfold, and Funeral
For A Friend.
February
22, 2004:
I've got lots of fun stuff today.....photos of MxPx,
Sugarcult
and From Autumn
to Ashes. An interview
with Ben Perri of From Autumn to Ashes, who is such a teddy bear for
a guy that screams on stage like he does. And just for kicks, I have
posted an editorial
that I wrote for my friend's zine...just thought at least one person
out there might like to read it.
February
16, 2004:
As a special treat, Sarah, our resident statistician compiled some stats
on bands' response to the "3 words to describe your band"
question. You can check out the stats here.
February
15, 2004:
I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day. In celebration
(a day late), I have posted interviews with Maroon
5 and The
Working Title. Also, I added some photos
of the best band in St. Augustine, FL called Exhaustra. Here's a sneak
peak:
This is TJ from
Exhaustra......isn't he sooooo adorable? (He's gonna kill me for posting
that. =) )
February
5, 2004:
The "About Us" page is finally up. Click here
to get all the dirt on the Rock Press staff.
February 1, 2004:
I just posted photos of Mest,
The Used and
AFI. Enjoy!
January 27, 2004:
*** Important news for the day***: No Motiv's brand new album Daylight
Breaking came out today. It is absolutely amazing, so every single
one of you needs to go out and buy the album right now in support of
one of the best, nicest and hardest working bands around. You can check
out my review of the album here.
January 26, 2004:
So, thanks to a snow day, I've got an update. I have added pictures
from 3 great local bands: The
Julius Airwave, Letters
to Holden and Stories
Below. I've also got a quick review of the Saosin
EP. AND more still...I finally put up the Links
page. It's still in it's early stages.
January
19, 2004:
So, I've got two new things....the first is a funny interview
with the hyperactive Kenny Bridges of Moneen. And the second is my Best
of 2003 picks....I know, I know, it's 19 days late. Better late
than never.
January 11, 2004:
Right now, everyone needs to go check out this amazing band called The
Letters Organize. They are one of the best unsigned bands around.
They've got some MP3s on their site, so take a listen right away! And
then be sure to let me know
what you think. And then if you like them, be sure to tell all of your
friends. =)
January
10, 2004:
As promised, I've got an update. I just added a CD review of a cool
Washington band called The Pale and you can check it out here.
Also, I got to do an interview with the wonderful Jake Brown of the
killer band Moments in Grace. You can read that here.
And after you're done, go to their
website or absolutepunk.net
and download the band's free debut EP. You will not be disappointed.
January
6, 2004:
Welcome to the launch of my webzine Rock
Press. So far I have plenty of interviews, reviews and photos
posted to keep you busy until I can add more. Keep in mind that some
of the content may be a couple of years old and some of the reviews
might be super short (I was in a time crunch). I'd love to hear what
you think, so if you've got any comments (good or bad, I can take it,
I promise), please e-mail me.
Also, if you find that something doesn't work like it should, e-mail
me about that, too. So, until the next update, ENJOY!
-Leah
